Build the thing that lets people stay home.
HomeStay is an early-stage startup built around home services for older adults — regular visits, daily check-ins, family updates, appointment accompaniment and a vetted network of local trades. We are small, we are at the beginning, and every role here is hands-on.
Read this before you apply
- • This is a startup. Things change weekly and no job description is complete.
- • Every role is part-time and flexible right now, and can grow with the company.
- • Our whole business is home services — what we build, sell and do all happens in someone's home.
- • You will work directly with the founder and see the results of your work quickly.
Part-time executive assistant
15–25 hours a week, flexible · Remote, with occasional local errands
You keep the founder's week straight and make sure nothing about a member ever falls through. This is the role that touches everything early on.
What you'll do
- • Manage the calendar, inbox and follow-ups so commitments are kept.
- • Coordinate home assessments, visits and provider scheduling.
- • Prepare simple documents, notes and summaries for members and families.
- • Keep records tidy — members, providers, invoices, paperwork.
- • Answer member and family calls warmly when the team is in the field.
What we're looking for
- • Extremely organized and calm under a messy day.
- • Excellent written and phone manner — you'll talk with older adults and their children.
- • Comfortable with new software and figuring things out without a manual.
- • Discreet with private household information.
Part-time programmer / software engineer
10–25 hours a week, flexible · Remote
Help build the HomeStay product — the member app, the family view, the dispatch board, the provider job portal and the billing behind it.
What you'll do
- • Ship features across a React and TypeScript front end with a Postgres backend.
- • Build and maintain the operations tools our field team uses daily.
- • Wire up integrations: payments, messaging, scheduling and notifications.
- • Fix things fast when a member or provider is blocked.
What we're looking for
- • Solid React, TypeScript and SQL. Full-stack comfort matters more than depth in one layer.
- • You've shipped real products, not just coursework.
- • Good product judgment — you'll often decide the details yourself.
- • Care about reliability: real families depend on these screens.
Part-time social / digital media manager
10–20 hours a week, flexible · Remote, with local shoots
Tell the HomeStay story to adult children who are worried about a parent — honestly, warmly, and without the stock-photo cliché of senior care.
What you'll do
- • Plan and publish across social channels, email and the blog.
- • Capture and edit real photo and video from visits, with permission.
- • Run local paid campaigns and report on what actually brings members.
- • Build the provider-recruiting side of our content too.
What we're looking for
- • A portfolio of accounts you grew, ideally local or service businesses.
- • Strong writing voice — plain, warm, never clinical.
- • Comfortable shooting and editing on a phone.
- • Respectful judgment about dignity and privacy when filming in someone's home.
Field technicians (off-duty nurses and first responders preferred)
Shift-based, choose your availability · In the field, local service area
You are the HomeStay person a household sees every week. Visits, check-ins, small household help, appointment accompaniment and calm eyes on how someone is really doing.
What you'll do
- • Run scheduled home visits using a simple checklist in the app.
- • Handle light household tasks and coordinate bigger jobs with our providers.
- • Accompany members to appointments — drive them, sit with them, take notes, share a summary with family.
- • Write a clear visit summary families can read the same day.
- • Flag concerns early to the operations team.
What we're looking for
- • Off-duty nurses, EMTs, paramedics, firefighters and police are our preferred background — you already know how to walk into a home and steady it.
- • Valid driver's licence, reliable vehicle, clean background check.
- • Patient, unhurried presence with older adults.
- • Handy enough for small household fixes.
- • Note: HomeStay is not a medical service. Field technicians do not provide clinical or nursing care.
