How provider vetting works
HomeStay sends providers to people's homes, often when they are on their own. These are the checks we run before any provider appears on a job, and the standards they keep to stay on.
Before a provider takes a HomeStay job
- State licence verified for the trade, where the trade requires one.
- General liability insurance verified, with the certificate on file and an expiry date we track.
- Criminal background screening on the owner and on any employee who will enter a home.
- A conversation with a HomeStay person about how we expect people to be treated.
- Written agreement to our pricing, approval and cancellation rules.
While they work with us
- Licence and insurance expiry dates are tracked, and work stops if either lapses.
- Every job is rated, and we review completion, on-time arrival and callbacks.
- Any safety or conduct complaint suspends a provider while we look into it.
What we do not do
We do not rank providers by advertising spend, and providers cannot pay for placement. We do not publish review scores until a provider has enough completed HomeStay jobs for the number to mean anything.
